how machine is maintained in classic material management method?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

There are different types or methods that are used to maintain the machines. These methods are termed as preventive, corrective or breakdown or predictive maintenance. W.r.t. to the classical material management methods, machines go for the maintenance after they break down. It means that corrective or breakdown method of maintenance is used to maintain the machines under the classical material management method. It causes longer time to get the machines back to work and creating loss of production that is considered as a waste in lean sigma Quality program.
The other two methods such as preventive and predictive methods are used in modern management system. Here, predictive maintenance is computerized and it predicts the time of the breakdown of the machines, using sophisticated applications. Accordingly, the machines are taken up for servicing and returned back to the operation.
