To what extent should business firms attempt to adapt to their external environments? What is the alternative to adaptation?

Business organizations in order to be successful needs to adapt to the external environment of the business which includes social factors, legal factors, factors related to technology and the most important of all is how the expectations of the customers are met. So it is very much clear that the organizations needs to be flexible enough and adapt to these environments at maximum possible extent which will make the conditions simple and convenient for the organization to be functioning.

If we look at adaptation and the factors related to adoatation, we will notice that generally there is no alternative to this because organizations do not possess anything that can be substituted for adaptation but the organization can cater to the requirements they possess so that they can be successful in their venture.
