Have you ever looked at a public building to determine if it is accessible? Few people have, Choose a building on campus or a building that you routinely access. Prepare a two page memorandum detailing the building's features as listed below.

A building that is funded from public sources or money used to provide services and accessible to public. There are different type of buildings that are working for public services like RTO office, Tax office and Government Hospitals etc.

As these buildings are funded and sources are from public needs to be maintained in such a way that it should not create any inconvenience to public. It needs to be well furnished because there are various groups or ages of people visiting for different kinds of works and it was not estimated or expected how much time it will take to finish that particular work.

Even different abled candidates and old people will be visiting to these buildings on some particular works.Being a public access building it should have all the necessary requirements and basic facilities to accommodate public.

The public buildings are hardly deigned with latest technology, most of them are old with very few facilities and accesses to the building. It hardly provides one or two for a disabled candidates on wheelchairs.

How many doors are accessible to wheelchairs?

If a government hospital is considered hardly it will have at most one or two doors are accessible to wheelchairs. Because that again need a staff to address these candidates.Very rare we find someone addressing or helping these candidates for completing their works.

It's not with all the building, there are building which don't have proper rooms to accesses to these candidates.Mostly these rooms are available at first or ground floor of the building because to have an easy access without anyone help, but still some people need assistance to take care of these public.

Hardly if we identify only few doors that is one or two doors and a ramp are accessible for these candidates on wheelchairs.

Are the restrooms accessible? Take measurements; do not believe the posted signs.

Its again depends on the number of floors and building property.Mostly rest rooms are accessible and available at every floor. Even at ground floor we will be finding one common restroom for everyone.

Its very tough to find restrooms because they are constructed somewhere in the building and there are no proper signs attached or show way to restrooms.

Basically people used to ask everyone for way to access to restrooms. Its very difficult to access restrooms at public buildings.Very few will be available that too far without any indications.

If there is a fire, how will persons in wheelchairs get out of the building?

Mostly at these building there are very rare safety precautions and firefight things.Because they are not properly maintained due to negligence and lack of monitoring at these buildings.

Through ramps is the only option for the wheelchairs, because that will be the easy and comfortable access for these people there are one or two access doors. But most of them prefer these ramp access will be more easy for them.

Could a person in a wheelchair move around the building unassisted?

No,without assistance it's not possible for a wheelchair person to move around because it's very tough to access easily and most of them are not aware of the access points.Because of no indicators and information stating exit, entry and wheelchair access etc.Even though they are due somechnages and building age they will be faded away.

A well known person especially the attendees are required to assist these people. It's hardly impossible for people on wheelchairs to get their access by their own.

For wheelchair person it's tough to move around the building unassisted.

If there is more than one building on the property, could a person in a wheelchair move from building to building unassisted?

It's their own risk because the public building has more then one or two attendees even they are busy with some other works assigned to them. It's very difficult for them to move from building to building unassisted.

Needs to seek somebody's help if they really needs to go from one building to another. Its very rare we will have these building because most of the public buildings are individual and located at different places.

Very few building that we find together still its very difficult to move from one building to another. Most of the people, especially wheelchair persons will bring their own company.Because they expect the issues at public buildings.
