Federal trade commission is responsible for stopping deceptive advertising.

I'm 1914, government established Federal trade commission act through which Federal taxes commission(FTC) came into existence. It primary responsibilities involved regulating the advertising, marketing, consumer credit practices and also prevents anti trust agreements and unfair practices.

It played a crucial role in protecting the consumer interests anti competetive behaviour, unfair and deceptive practices.
