is social and business behavior dependent on cultural orientation? Please provide examples
Each country or geographical area has its own cultural dimensions named as Hofstede cultural dimensions. These dimensions build cultural orientation of the individuals that affect their social and business behavior. For example, people from Canada are more oriented to the family and give higher weightage to the collectivism in decision making process at personal level and or business level. But, a US individual is more individualistic in nature, becoming more self-centric, shown in their decision making process. On a similar note, the Japanese people have higher level of uncertainty avoidance index, making them follow their own cultural specifics in their social and business behavior. But, US people are more indulgent, try new ideas and absorb more from other cultures that is good for them. Hence, Americans are more open to explore and adopt, than the Japanese people. Hence, it is the cultural orientation, its learning and value system built in the person, that helps shape the social conduct and behavior in business environment.
