Answer #1

The investing in the future should be sustainable and reap good results. My investing in the future idea would be in a technology that can absorb water content from the air and condense it to create drinking water for people. The world is facing serious water shortage and the people will have to find ways to save water in the future. The air pollution is also on the rise so the technology will also have to purify the water after condensing it to remove all the impurities and the toxic substances. This can be an excellent investment as the people will buy this technology to keep them safe and also to have fresh water to drink all the time.

The following quotation appeared in a Wall Street Journal article on the battle for market share in the automobile industry in 2000: “The huge fixed costs involved in developing new vehicles and running big auto factories means auto makers feel compelled to maintain-or expand-market share. Losing share long term could mean shutting down factories, or running factories at unprofitable rates.” Do these statements support economic theory and show that economies of scale do not benefit a firm if the output...

Come up with a question regarding the feeding behavior of slugs. For example, you might ask, “Do slugs have a color preference in the foods they eat?” Make sure your question is testable with the materials and the amount of time available; your options for slug food will be limited to what plant/fungal materials you can find from walking around campus. State your hypothesis (should be something other than color preference). Hint: See p. 1 for a description on what...

Describe the continuity correction (covered in an earlier course unit), and explain how, when, and why it is used in statistics. Don't limit your thinking to the most common example given of this corrective step: approximation of binomials using the Normal distribution. While that is an example of such a correction, it is only one example. (Hint: You could compare the development of this correction logic for discrete distributions to the use of integration against continuous distributions.) Discuss the more...
