Examples that how normal distribution might manifest themselves in real business situations are followings-

  • Occasionally lifespans of manufactured parts or equipment form a normal distribution
  • Height, weight and blood pressure of men and women naturally follow a normal distribution

The normal distribution is important in statistics because this probability distribution fits many natural occurrences and describes how the values of a variable are distributed. The normal distribution makes the calculation easy in statistics.

To check whether the data collected in a research project comes from a Normal distribution; generally normality tests are conducted on the data set to determine. One of such method is to testing normality to compare a histogram of the sample data with a normal probability curve.
