Answer #1

Norvic International Hospital is one of the largest and best equipped patient care institution in Kathmandu. It is a 100 bed multi-specialty hospital with state of the art equipment and well trained doctors and nurses.

I caught up with its Administrator Mr R P Mainali and posed the following question:

- Explain your charges and how your organization is reimbursed for care and services provided.

Mr Mainali was forthright in his response. He said Norvic is not a charity organization and hence all its services are chargeable as per market trends. They provice world class services for most ailments and therefore also need to be paid for the services offered. They are among the biggest tax payers to the national exchequer and do not receive any grants from the government. All their finances are managed by their own resources.

Their charges for the services offered are competitive and at a premium to justify their high cost of operation.

He though said they also do their bit for the under priviledged communities and society at large by organizing free monthly clinics where their top doctors and nurses impart consultation and services at no extra cost to the patients.
