Question

Q11

What is power? What is influence? [2 Marks]

Answer #1

Power is the ability to get desired outcomes done by others irrespective of how it is done. It has nothing to do with the motivation or desire of the doer. It is, therefore, entirely outcome-oriented.

Influence, on the contrary, is the ability to transform one's belief i.e. their knowledge and opinion about the existing situation or the desired situation. Using influence, the influencer can develop or transform the followers' point of view about good/ bad, right/ wrong, true/ false about some context. Influence is, therefore, behavior or intention-oriented.

Several factors influence statistical power for a one-sample t
test. How does statistical power change (increase or decrease) for
each of the following changes? When d (effect size) increases. When
N (sample size) increases. When the alpha level is made smaller.
Explain your answer. For example, if we know ahead of time that the
effect size d is very small, what does this tell us about the N we
will need in order to have adequate statistical power? (We assume...
