1- Some medical experts believe that regular exercises result in better health, improved conditioning and greater tolerance of stressful situations. What would you think about being employed by a company that required you to workout daily on company time? Do you think this would help or hurt the company’s recruiting ability? Explain your position?
2. Given your career aspirations, might you join a union? Why or why not? Explain.
Answer: (1) I feel that I will like to join a company that requires me to workout daily on company time. Workouts are very useful for relieving stress and pressures that are present at the modern workplace. Such work outs are not only beneficial for the physical health but is very much required for the mental health of the employees. Companies that allow such workouts are genuinely interested in mutual benefit and are not just focused on their own profitability. Such companies are more likely to attract more people towards them as such gestures make the employees feel that the company is genuinely interested in them. Such strategies enable the companies to create an employee friendly image as they allow the employees to maintain a work life balance.
(2) Looking into my career aspirations I will not likely to join a trade union. Trade unions are better option for the employees who do not have a forward looking view and are not much interested in their progress at managerial position. I have an aspiration to become a high level manager and Union based thinking in my opinion can limit my future thinking. Unions are basically a tool for collective bargaining to protect the rights of the first line employees. For becoming a manager one needs to develop his negotiation skills and ability to act independently. Hence I do not feel that I should join a trade union looking into my future aspirations.
