Organizational Change and Development
"Transitional change" is more likely to require an interim organizational structure than is "transformational change". Why is this so?
In case of Transitional change, it is a process where the employees are asked to accept and implement the change effort. However, a certain structure of even interim one, gives them a sense of direction so that the change is well-guided. Otherwise, the scope of confusions and things going hay-wire, is high. In case of Transformational change, it is that act of transformation that has come to an end. In such a case, a new Organizational structure is formed that can provide support to the new change and is permanent in nature. Hence “Transitional change" is more likely to require an interim organizational structure than is "transformational change".
