1) Assume that you are Weiss. How many viable alternatives do you have to consider regarding the initial shipment of 25 buses?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

1. If we take primary cities only into consideration, we have only two options. This is because Bremerhaven does not have scheduled liner service in the given window. Thus the two options are

Prague to Santos

  1. Through Hamburg
  2. Through Rotterdam

When it comes to the departure dates, there are some restrictions as well. For example, the 18 day transit time required from Hamburg eliminates both October 31st & November 3rd, and the 17 day transit time required from Rotterdam eliminates the departure on November 2nd. October 27 departure from Hamburg and October 28 departure from Rotterdam will get buses to Santos by November 15th. However they are risky and does not have any room in case of a delay. This means again we have two alternatives in terms of dates. They are:

From Hamburg on October 24th

From Rotterdam on October 23rd
