A product has a fixed demand of 3000 units per year and its production requires 3 processes with the following cycle time A= 20 min/ unit B= 30 min/unit C= 15 min/unit

Assuming that this production time operates 250 days/year, what is the recommended Takt time

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The fixed demand per year is 3000 units.

The production time operates for 250 days in a year.

So, the required Units of Production per day is 3000/250 = 12 units /day.

The production time as follows

A process = 20 Min/Unit or 20 minutes * 12 = 240 minutes.

B process = 30 minutes / Unit or 30 * 12 = 360 minutes.

C proces = 15 min / Unit or 15* 12 = 180 minuutes.

So available Minutes = 240+ 360+ 180= 780 minutes.

Now., Available Minutes for Production / Required Units of Production = Takt Time

780/ 12 = 65 minutes / day.

we can just as easily do this for a year rather than a day.

780* 250 = 195000 And 12* 250= 3000 units /year.

so, 1,95000/ 3000= 65 Minutes / year.
