" Theorists have claimed that great men are the champions for change in the public domain giving claim to the thought that authority is specially acknowledged as having relations to legacy (Pieterse et al. 2010). "
"Literature indicated that effective leaders were considered survivors and were equipped with the necessary tools to make them stand out from the norm (Pieterse et al. 2010). ""
Do you think these theories of leadership in the public domain apply to leaders of projects in organisations in e.g. a government department, a large oil/gas company or an international charity?
From above mentioned two theories of leadership, I strongly agree with the second statement given by Pieterse et al. 2010. In government organization or any large complicated organization like oil/gas, the leader needs to be equipped with necessary tools like financial power, legislative power, authority and responsibility to carry their function. In government department projects are much complicated where stakeholders are quite large. The leader should have certain tools so that they can complete the project with in time and immune from legal action if any unruly group of people want to take. This theory can be mostly applicable in complex government department where rules, policies, public sentiments are quite high. If leader do not equip with necessary tools then it will be difficult for the leader to standout and remain different from the norms.
