To the extent the Supply chain is adaptable to a new extensive Information technology or tools that support the decision-making activities in the chain or if the chain is flexible enough to collaborate with the partners, then to certain level, I believe, a supply chain can be redesigned to compensate for poor product design or poor product quality. In addition, reduction in the variability of the lead times and some certainty in the production capacity can also help to compensate for the poor product design or quality in the supply chain channel to a certain exchange.
