what is the similarities between Prospero in the Tempest and the sun rising in John donne?
Shakespeare’s Tempest has Prospero as the main character in the poem. Prospero is showcased as a protagonist and he is being mistreated by his brother. The character has two sides of a coin. On one side, he is sympathetic because his brother mistreats him. On the other side, he is unsympathetic because he uses magic as a means to control others.
The Rising Sun by John Donne similarly has two sides of his emotions. One is an angry version in which Donne starts out angry at the sun. He does not like the shine and asks the sun to get lost and bother other people. He also goes onto say that love is not slave to the sun and just shove off! The other side of his emotion is that he is not depressed and angry instead he is cocky and strong. He says that he is stronger than the sun and just by closing his eyes he can make sun to disappear entirely.
