What role did the Magna Carta play in our Bill of Rights

The Magna Carta was a symbol of justice and natural rights of a person against an oppressive government. It safeguarded individual liberty. The writers of the Bill of Rights were inspired by the Magna Carta. The Bill of Rights is comprised of the first ten amendments to the US constitution. The Magna Carta has more than 60 clauses, out of which only a few are relevant. Clauses pertaining to right to trial by jury, excessive fines, forbidding of taxation without representation were included in the Bill of Rights. Amendments from five to seven outline the ground lines for a speedy and fair jury trail. The eight amendment, which can be traced to the 20^th clause of Magna Carta, puts a limit on excessive bail and fines.
