1) In a bureaucracy, the members of an organisation perform specialised functions which can only be performed by them. It is only because of their training skills. So technical skills can get one a job in bureaucracy.

2) Hierarchical model is used in a bureaucracy which is totally based upon authority.

3) It is characterised by huge level of division of labour.

4) This type of organisation has major formal rules. More than any other type of organisation.

5) Persons working in a bureaucracy have a sense of identity and they work within the set boundaries.
