A person has applied to be a bouncer (which is a licensed security position) at a large nightclub. He placed nothing on his application disclosing a previous arrest.   The detective in charge of licensing completes a record check and discovers that the applicant has been arrested for assault on his wife about three months ago. His wife received medical attention.

He was in jail overnight, released the next morning and there was no conviction since the wife left town (and has not returned in fear of her husband).

The application comes to you as the security manager with the detective recommending not to approve the application given that the applicant failed to disclose the arrest (although he was not convicted). The applicant is otherwise qualified.

For this discussion question, you are in charge of security at the nightclub. What should you do? Explain the factors supporting your decision.

Case #2

Your second question is to challenge you to think in terms of the subject matter you have studied and applied it to the unique security assignment to demonstrate that different assignments may require a different qualification in terms of character, training, pay, and experience.

For this question, discuss from your perspective as the director of security, the kind of security personnel you would want to employ to work as security mid-level managers for the Olympics or similar large sporting event or political rally. Discuss the requirements for character, competence, commitment, compensation, and experience.

You should provide a description of the methods to recruit, select, train and supervise. Also, provide insightful comments about the unique qualifications needed for these kinds of security personnel for such an event.

Keep in mind the kinds of threats that such an event would attract and the critical assets that must be protected.

Complete an original posting on each case study (at least 100 words per case study) and respond with a critical evaluation to at least one of your fellow learners on each of their case study original postings.

Answer #1

According to given scenario that which was given in case 1 that person who applied for the job of bouncer was the criminal. He had done some physical attacks on his wife and jailed for a night. Job description details that person should be perfect in all the aspects regarding his professional carrier. According to the job description and some of the qualification applicant was selected for the job. As the in charge of security at the nightclub I would like to have a face-to-face interview to know reasons for the assault. Sometimes we cannot judge a person by the past experiences. In interview I will enquire that person about the reasons for the physical attack. If the answers given by that person were in the convinced manner I would like to appoint that person as a bouncer because instead of this reason he was selected for the job. I think that he had done the physical attack unknowingly. If he had done that mistake knowingly he will be jailed for some years. This was the main reason to think about that person positively.

As a director of security I had some specification to select security personnel for the Olympics, similar large event or any political event. That person should be physically strong to cross any kind of hurdles if occurred in the event, should be alert and aware for every situation, should be very honest towards protecting a program and also the persons, person should have good communication skills that which helps to convey every situation clearly and should be ready to serve any client if necessary. To recruit that person a formal written test will be carried according to the program rules and regulations. Physical fitness test will be carried out and selected person will be trained. All the benefits will be given to the person with the intended salary. The person should be completed graduation with physical fitness will be eligible to apply for this job. We know that if there was a large crowd of people gathered at one place there will be threats like fights between the people, bomb explosions and terrorist attacks on the people. That person should always ready to face any threat that which will be observed in the event.
