What is a model? Identify some of the basic characteristics of a model. List some of the benefits associated with the usage of mathematical models in system analysis. What are some of the problems/concerns?

Answer #1

A model is a mathematical representation of a process or a calculation where all the steps are shown in the form of a diagram or a calculation or an analysis. Models are shorter versions of the actual process . They use symbols, diagrams etc., to make us understand the actual concept. They are easy to understand and precise. When we use mathematical models in system analysis it makes the concept easy to be understood. For example understanding a process in the form of a diagram is more easy than reading it in theory. They are also easy to explain and they act as guides for executing a process. The main concern with mathematical models is thatthey might be complex at times which can only be understood by people who have technical knowledge on the subject . It also complicates the process some times and needs a lot of time in solving it.

A company sells two models of a product—basic and premium. The basic model has a variable cost of $75 and sells for $100. The premium model has a variable cost of $100 and sells for $150. Fixed costs are $15,000. If the company usually sells 5,000 basic models and 2,500 premium models, then the break-even point in composite units is _________ units. What are the steps

In a basic Keynesian model (such as Model II in Models and Multipliers) the size of the government expenditures multiplier is very straightforward—depending on the magnitude of the MPC. However, in a case more closely resembling the “real world” (such as Model IV in Models and Multipliers), the size of the government expenditures multiplier is less certain. Examine the two models and indicate what conditions (or parameter values) would cause the Model VII multiplier to be larger or smaller than...
