Question:- For the problem below, what is the quantity assigned to the cell Source 1-Destination 2 using the intuitive lowest-cost method for an initial feasible solution?

Answer:- D:- 45

Reason:-

In the intuitive lowest-cost method, first of all, we will find the least transportation cost in the entire network which is 1 belonging to cell Source 1-Destination 2 as this cell has the least transportation cost of 1.

Thus the demand from Destination 2 is 45 while the supply from source 1 is 50. Thus the entire demand of Destination 2 will be addressed by source 1. Thus the allocation on cell Source 1-Destination 2 will be 45 and the remaining supply from source 1 is 50-45=5 units.

Thus the correct answer is:-

45 units
