Question :- In May of 2013, Jesse plans to open a law office named “Peace Law” and uses the peace symbol as part of the logo for the business. That same month Jesse registers the trademark with the Patent and Trademark Office. Jesse opens the law office for practice in July 2015. Assuming no one contested registration of the trademark within 5 years, is the trademark valid?

Yes ,it is still valid for use.

A registered trademark is owned for a tenure of 10 years and is renewable after that period as well. Since Jesse had the trademark registered with the office in 2013 ,it is valid till 2023 for use by Jesse. But in this case ,since Jesse started practicing in 2015 ,it is still valid as long as nobody challenged it. This is a case of Intent to use trademark in future. Intent to use trademark is when the trademark protection is effective the trademark is being used in business.
