There is truly a paradigm shift, even brick and mortar stores are now operating a segment of their business on-line for the savvy customer who prefer the on-line experience. In today’s business environment we have mixed business models. For instance, you can go to Macy’s website and shop as well as in the store. While many shoppers prefer to touch and buy; many more prefer the convenience of shopping at their own time without having to leave the comfort of their homes. What are the advantages and disadvantages of e-business? Please list the advantages and list disadvantages and elaborate. The main advantage of an e-business would be the ability to reach vast numbers of customers. This internet is not termed the “Worldwide Web” for nothing. The term is used because of the nets ability to reach so many people in such a small amount of time. This is definitely the most significant reason behind the e-business/e-commerce business organization

The main disadvantage for me is customer skepticism and lack of trust in online payment and personal info security. Many people are distrustful of doing business transactions online because of the rash of cybersecurity breaches and identity thefts. This could be a major disadvantage.

Productivity and cost reduction are the key challenges the B2C marketplace faces in the online retail business. The sharing of information between the company and the employees and the company and their providers is a definite way to improve productivity and thereby reduce cost. Finding the way to consolidate, organize, and process the information in a way that it could function in accordance with relevancy. This is where the use of technology, like databases would be most useful in improving and streamlining processes to make relevant information more accessible for analysis and improvements

In my opinion, there will be no reversal in e-business, specifically online shopping as the internet is proliferating in the entire world very fast and almost each business practice can be performed on e-business. E-business provides the ease of operation, cost reduction and greater accessibility for both the customer and the markers. In fact, in my opinion, the near future will see the leaps and bound growth of e-business all over the world.
