What are 2 scenarios and 2 contingencies that a Starbucks barista would be involved in and what would they do about it?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Two scenarios that a Starbucks Barista would be involved in are

  • Preparing the bill for the coffee
  • Serving the coffee to the customer

In the process of doing that there may be several incidents that may happen. Two of those possible incidents are

  • Computer is offline or the billing system malfunctions
  • Someone dropped coffee on the floor of the café and it is slippery and potentially dangerous for customers.

In those cases, the barista should be prepared to take care of the situation. Two things that can be done are

  • Beside the computer billing system, also keep a manual (pen and paper) billing vouchers ready. They can serve temporarily while the system is being fixed.
  • Put out a warning sign about the wet and slippery floor for the customers. This will make sure that there is no legal negligence from the part of the café to their customers.
