Human Resources management. Page 413 HRM experience. Awarding Salary Increases. I have to write a 2 page paper and distribute raises to employees. I'm stuck on where to begin. My question is How do I distribute the raises between the 5 employees?
Appraisals are by their own merit, most difficult for managers & subordinates alike. Appraisals are a post effect of the work performed during the year. This is an analysis & should be well thought to bring in transparency & motivation.
First off all we need to understand that appraisal is a means to reward or recognise the talent & create a sense of accountability for lesser performing employees.
It is paramount to understand beforehand that what is the objective of the department, of which these five people are the employees.Is there a direct way to measure the output attributable to each one of them.
In certain cases it is very simple like the level of sales generated by each of them, then the salary increase can be proportionately awarded.
In certain we need to chalk out two criterias like leadership & functional competency & then draw the scale measure for each of the employees on this.
This is a good measure since it caters two things at the same time i.e your functional experience as well as your managerial experience.Managers should be prepared with a justifiable reason for the chosen approach.
