Not all sources are reliable and defiantly many information sources are completely irrelevant to the actual research so Source evaluation becomes an extremely important criteria based on which any academic writing or research is done.

Internet has helped in creating an enormous repository of information which can be added from any media source but the good quantity of information does not ensure good quality. Since the information can be shared by anyone and everyone, the authenticity of the source cannot be trusted without proper evaluation.

Evaluation of source is not only important to sieve out the incorrect information but also required to decide which information is most relevant to the academic research. This is turn helps in building a reliable writing or research material which can be backed up by trustworthy sources and gives factual information.
