The chain of intermediaries through which the product or services reach the end customer is known as a distribution channel. The distribution channels perform various logistic as well as physical distribution functions which enhances the efficiency of good's flows from the manufacturer to end consumers or customers. This also creates efficiencies of the flow because they minimize transactions number in the flow of goods from the manufacturer to the ultimate customer. This is done in two ways

  • They buy in bulk and divide the lot into smaller lots as per the needs and demand of the customers
  • Thye create assortments and the buyer's needs are fulfilled by providing a variety of products at one location.

These were some ways the channel members add value to the distribution channel.
