Part of what makes McClelland’sacquired needs theory so powerful is that the work environments and job responsibilities can — and in fact, should — be tailored to meet workers specific needs. Consider the three types of needs described. Of achievement, power, or affiliation, which is the strongest need you have? What type of position would be most likely to satisfy your greatest need?
The strongest need I have is the need for achievement because my desire for achievement is more than the other two needs and I get motivated easily when my work gets recognized. I am satisfied when I put effort in something and achieve the result through my hard work than achieving something through power or relationship. The type of position that would most likely satisfy my greatest need, the need for achievement is an individual contributor role which will help me to showcase my skills and achievements as an independent employee and receive rewards and recognition from the management.
