When a shipper needs to claim for damaged cargo the first thing they need to do is to get the cargo checked by an expert and get a document on the damages incurred to the cargo .

Then they need to send the same to the insurance company and also to the shipping company used to ship the cargo. They need to do this in time because if they delay the process the company can simpy say that it is too late to claim.Hence this step should be taken as fast as the shipper can.

They need to have all the documents regarding the shipment like bills so that they can be submitted as proofs before law. The claim can be done only with valid documents.

Once they have all the documents and registered the complaint they need to safeguard the cargo and seperate left over cargo from the damaged part. This can prevent the whole cargo from getting damaged.
