Homework Answers

Answer #1

Similar to private organizations, the planned organizational changes efforts can also face a similar type of success in the public sector or in various schools. There has been a lot of interventions related to OD even in the public sector and it is widely accepted and approved even by the governments. With the help of OD, the public sector organizations and schools will be in a better position to have a better response towards the citizenry and it will also help them to convert into a more citizen-centric and customer driven, goal-oriented public sector organization.

Despite having the greater public sector interventions, unique types of situations are faced by them that also includes the management of the political and administrative environment. The intervention in OD is commonly executed with the help of various stakeholders and every stakeholder has a certain legal standing in the public policymaking along with the decision making process. The organizational structure of the public sector organization also impacts the climate and assistance of OD. Despite having no interference from the administrative and staff, there is hardly any chance that the legislative and political arena will be subjected to similar types of OD interventions. If OD interventions will be applied in the legislative and political arena, there will be different roles for them that will depend on the varied competing values. In order to have the planned change initiatives, it is important for the OD practitioners to identify and address and appreciate these various differences.
