Consumer Protection Law : The consumer protection law is the law which protects the consumers from the miscommercial acts of the shopkeepers, retails, dealers, distributors, manufacturers, trader etc. The consumer Protection act / law develops the frameworks which helps and protects the interest of consumers during the commercial sale or purchase of the goods or services.

Consumer Protection Law in UAE: The consumer protection act/Law in UAE is the legal law or act which protects the rights and interests of the people of UAE as consumers in their local purchase of goods or services for the general or special needs. The consumer protection law which is applicable in the UAE nation is approved by the constitution of the UAE nation and is applicable for the citizen of the UAE is nation. All the people of UE can explore this law for the misconduct/mis-commercial act of any or the producers or traders. The consumer law helps the consumers to get their charges/ money they are legally deserves.

The UAE consumer protection law is to ensure that the fair relationship between the consumers and the businesses. Following are the key points of the UAE consumer act are as below

  • The Federal law 24 of 2006 is the consumer act which defines the consumer rights, obligations, outline certain protection measures so that this set of acts helps the consumers to fight with monopoly, over pricing, fraudulent commercial activities in the UAE market place.
  • Right to Safety Act -This law protects the consumers from the safety issues of the products.
  • Right to Know Act - The consumers are legally have the right to know the product and should have the proper information of the product from the manufacturer/dealer/distributor/retailer.
  • Right to Choose act : This law protects the consumer from using the products without their choice. Thus consumers have the legal right to choose the products as per their interest and choice.
  • Right to Representation act : The consumers have the right to representation.
  • Right to be Informed act : The consumers have the right to get the information of the products. The information availability on the product is must for the manufacturers/dealers/distributors/retailers, as it is the legal right of the consumers.

This Law is capable of compensating consumers for material and physical damages incurred – This law falls as per the warranty terms and service conditions of the manufacturers/ traders to the consumers. The law is capable of compensating for material damage and physical damage, as if it falls under the warranty conditions and warranty periods for the given products. The material defect and physical damages are generally falls under the category of manufacturer or producer, as manufacturer or producer needs to ensure that they provide the material of the product to meet the operational conditions of the products. Thus consumer act can help the consumer to protect their interest based on the above stated laws/acts and the warranty terms and service conditions as per the agreements of the consumer and the businesses.
