Supply chain management professionals fulfill roles which generally fall into 2 categories i.e., planning( such as demand forecasting, inventory control and handling customer service issues) and operations (like day to day management of people and flow of products)

Some possible jobs are :

In forecasting : Supply chain analyst, planners and project managers who use analytical and quantitative methods to manage the supply chain process ( people in these positions must focus on performance improvements and identifying potential problems )

In fulfillment : fulfillment supervisor, distribution center supervisor or distribution team leader ( people in these positions are responsible for recieving, storing and shipping products )

In purchasing : purchasing manager, acquisition manager and buyer. ( People in these positions supervise buying activities, locate suppliers, negotiate contracts and co-ordinate materials management)

In storage and distribution : warehouse operations manager, director of logistics or warehouse, delivery manager ( people in these positions must be skilled in inventory management i.e., from receiving and storing goods to filling orders )

In customer service : customer order manager and logistics or distribution co-ordinators ( people in these positions plan and direct the activities of customer service teams to ensure correct orders , effecient shipment and timely delivery of products)
