Describe the Buy American Act including its purpose, implementation and how it interacts with other agreements.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Buy American act is made by the federal agencies to protect the domestic market and products from the international market. There are generally two conditions to apply the Buy American Act:

1. The procurement should be planned for public use within the US.

2. The items or products from which they are manufactured should be available in the United States sufficiently with satisfactory quality quantities. The act can be waived off by agencies; if it is not in public favor or domestic products are not reasonable. The Buy American Act aims to protect US businesses and labor by restricting the national products that are not domestic. The Buy American Act applies to all US federal government agencies that purchase the ethical values but does not apply to services. Buy American law does not prohibit the federations' cost from purchasing foreign-made products; instead, it provides a price preference for domestic and products. Some agencies, like our department of defense, have different or additional Buy American restrictions specified. Many time embodies confused between the 'Buy American Act' and 'Buy America Act.' Both of different working and specifications.

Why do we not consider the other junction if they are equivalent equations?
