Q3. Based on your knowledge, how is American Health Care System different from systems in other countries? Any suggestions you would like to give to the leaders in health care industry based on what we have learned about execution trap. Think of any operative actions connecting vision and execution.

American Health care System is different from systems in other countries in following ways-

1. Role of Government - In American health care system, role of government is just to form some rules, regulations and policies, rest all the hospitals acts as per their own terms keeping in mind those policies. In some countries some unions, organisations or agencies control the health care system.
2. Availability of health insurance to all the citizens – In America health insurance is given to every citizen but availability of services depends upon the situation. However, in some countries people don’t even have health insurance and does not even get cover in emergencies.
3. Imperfect market conditions – In America patient does not actually choose the health insurance cover rather they are covered by some private or government insurance companies and charge is determined by heath care agencies not on basis of market forces.

Suggestions that can be given to the leaders in health care industry are –

1. Work with humility – Leaders should always welcome new skills, knowledge, ideas, etc. They should always work with humility to achieve more operational excellence. New doctors have latest knowledge so leaders must interact with them and adopt such changes in the system.
2. Optimism – Leaders must bring positive attitude. They must work with a thought in a mind that anything can be solved. Only then they will be more open to opportunities and achieve excellence.
