Do you think you have what it takes to be an entrepreneur as a student? Why, why not? Politicians always talk about the importance of supporting small businesses. Why do you think they do that? What do you think of Sir Ken Robinson's TED talk?
Entrepreneurship is all about coming up with an idea that can solve a specific problem and the idea should be sustainable. So the age and educational qualification of the entrepreneur does not really matter. A good idea can make a person entrepreneur. It is also true that the person requires guidance in the initial stages of starting the business. A student might not be aware of the different facets of running a business and he might need a mentor who can guide him and help him achieve his goal. But at the end of the day, it is the idea that really matters because the success of the business depends on that.
Politicians know the importance of small businesses and they know what are the advantages of it. Small businesses create employment opportunities and make people self-reliant. This can take poor people out of poverty and provide them with a better income to lead a comfortable life. Majority of the population of a country will always be looking for a better opportunity to earn and make a living. A small business setup can open the door to may new opportunities. They just have to come up with an idea and the government will help them in setting up with the company. This way the person will get benefitted and also the government because the person will create employment opportunities.
Sir Ken Robinson's TED Talk speaks about the schools killing the creativity. The purpose of the eduction is still very unpredictable and we do not know how the world will look like in the next 5 years. Still, the school will continue to educate children without having a clear picture of what the children need to achieve to succeed in the future. The schools only make them literate and not encourage creativity. The education systems around the world follow the same hierarchy and the importance given to the arts and culture is the least. The education system we have just made us think in one direction and we have not given freedom to our brain to decide what is right and what is wrong. The children's ability to create something innovative is being murdered at the school level. The gift of imagination students have should be protected and encouraged in order to make them achieve greater heights in the future.
