Answer #1

In todays time, every start up has the clan culture. It is a culture, where colleges including higher managers are more friendly with each other rather than being a boss of someone. Everyone in this kind of culture knows everyone in the organisation beat it professionally or personally. Such culture is highly appreciated by the small organisations as employees are more likely to have fun at there work places. Work is more like a fun task for colleges rather then a stress to the employees.

This types of culture promotes employees satisfaction at the work place and it is treated like an extended family for the college.

Pros and cons of such culture

Pros -

  1. It is an employee friendly culture and college enjoy working in such organisations.
  2. It is beneficial for startups where employees know each other and helps and support their team in everyday.
  3. Since it is less stressful environment, efficiency of the employees increases which is beneficial for the organisation.

Cons -

  1. There is not proper structure in such culture which sometimes may create chaos situation in the organisations.
  2. Sometime, employees take such culture more lightly and thus hamper the productivity of the organisation.
  3. Lack of authority, this happens because employees are more likely to take their own decisions, or take a common consensus while taking a decision. This situation may lead to a wrong path when a crucial decision has to be taken.

To being a prospective employee of such culture an individual should ask these questions to themselves before applying for such jobs:

  1. Whether he/she is willing to take responsibility of a job no matter how likely the management or the other colleges are.
  2. Whether he/she is smart enough to take decision and start acting like his own manager.

Recommendations:

  1. Despite being the open culture and all, there should a clear perspective among the employees, that in case of crucial work or decision making time, an individual can consult to his her seniors for better results.
  2. Definition of behaviour should be there, it is good that employees are being friendly in such culture, but there should be a defined limit so that it will not effect the feeling of other persons.
