What are your thoughts about Google and Facebook mining your personal data for advertisers and mostly doing it without you knowing. Are you, people ready to quit Facebook, stop using Google? What are some of the solutions to this problem?

One cannot simply let it go that the social media players like Google and Facebook mining our personal data for advertisers. As our data is valuable to us, without permission of the user they cannot mine themselves. It is equal to theft of personal belongings. No, people are not ready to quit the google and facebook for this. Some of the solutions are,

  • Seek permission of the user when they open the account
  • If they want to give particular information to advertisers, then they should seek permission
  • If the social media sites personally want to mine the data, they cannot simply sell it to outside public or advertisers and it should be monitored by judiciary
