Employee pension benefits are usually written as a part of employment contracts as they become the main source of income for the employee after retirement. Considering the number of yearss the employee served the organization, it becomes the responsibility of the organization to bind to the contract.

Retiree healthcare benefits are usually fringe benefits offered by companies to employees on a voluntary basis which normally don't have a legal binding and only are given at the will of the employees.
