Would it be better for a supervisor to go easy on employees during their appraisal interviews rather than risk hurting their feelings in such a way that they can’t save face? Why?

It is better for the supervisor to go easy on employees because:

1. This is the best time to motivate an employee, because if their performace is not upto expectations, you can make them realize what went wrong an how they can improve it. If they have performed better you can negotiate well. Furthermore this is the time when they are all ears.

2. Avoid clashes to get better negotiation oucomes

3. Reduce attrition, because the employees will sit to learn rather than rise and flee.
