There is a distinct difference between ‘publicity’ and ‘public relations’ and make sure you know this difference and discuss how you could realistically achieve publicity for a sports brand that would reach the objective of increasing consumption of an established brand.

To achieve publicity for a sports brand that would increase its consumption many realistic tactics can be used. The most appropriate and efficient would be the associating the brand with some celebrity or popular figure whom public or target customers look up to. For a sports brand , hiring a popular athlete as a brand ambassador will create an appeal among customers to use the product as the celebrity figure will influence their minds easily and enhance the brand image or status among customers.

The another great realistic tactic to achieve publicity for a brand to increase its consumption would be getting Media Coverage for the brand.The sports brand can get the attention of media which reaches to public easily through advocating any serious social evil or issue ,,, supporting a social cause,,, attaching name with charitable institution or fulfilling a highly corporate social responsibility image. For example the sports brand can highlight its presence among public through supporting Anti racism or fighting sexual discrimination issues, it can make huge donations to reputable non profit organisations, or plant a lots of trees, support forest development etc. These activities can help it attract media attention which will enhance the image or reputation of brand among customers through been highlighted for all the good reasons, thus leading to increase in its demand and consumption.

Announcing a press release for offering free Information regarding company and being extremely transparent about the operation, financial position and resources of the organization will also gain it publicity which will increase the confidence , morale and loyalty of customers in the brand and its products thus preferring it over all others. The market value of company will also increase and company name will gain goodwill.

The sports brand through holding a special event or fair or exhibitions of products to create awareness among its products about the new collection will help it in publicising the brand with the objective of increasing consume. Moreover organising contests and free giveaways will also increase the popularity of brand.
