1, How does the Taguchi loss function relate to QFD?
2, Can you share any real-world examples of some of the process management techniques
1) Taguchi function was developed by Ganichi Taguchi. It is a graphical representation of how an increase in variation within specification limits leads to an exponential increase in customer dissatisfaction.
Quality function deployment is a method to transform the voice of customer into engineering characteristics of a product.
Taguchi loss functions also measures quality. The loss function establishes a financial measures of dissatisfaction with a product performance as it deviates from a target value. Thus both average performance and variation are critical measures of quality. selecting a product design or a manufacturing process that is insensitive to uncontrolled sources of variation improves quality. This uncontrolled sources of variations are called noise factors.
Applying Taguchi's concept entails evaluating both the variance and average for techinical benchmarking in QFD.
