In a business mainly managers are put in to the test whenever there is a challenges in resolving the ethical issues. Most of the time the situations will not fall under the official code of ethics and this is where the manger feels the real heat and pressure. Ethical issues at the business can effectively solved when the individual or the management uses some of the few action. Ethical issue exists at the Business at broad sense, where one individuals action will affect the others, In the office managers decision may affect the workers, suppliers, customers, shareholders etc. so first thing need to do is identify the ethical issues. identify the alternative course of action. The handling ethical issues at the work place may resolve business as well as personal dilemmas. ethical reasoning skill is very important to make the ethical decision. Using this ethical reasoning skill decide on the course of the action.Value base and morality dilemmas are more difficult to handle when the employees are confused to choose between what is wrong and what is right.the forward thinking employers who will implement the policies related to work place ethics will some times lead to conflicts due to the diversity opinion, culture and value of the employees at the workplace. the handling the ethical issue at the business requires caution and the steady approach. There is no golden rule to solve this ethical issues but the manager can take few initiatives solve the ethical issues at the business

  • Know the principles- there are three basic principles we can use to solve the ethical issues such as moral idealism, intuitionism and utilitarianism . The principle of the moral idealism states that there is a clear difference between good and bad, between what is acceptable and what is not. It therefor asks for the abide by the law rules without any explanation. The principle of intuition is based on the assumption by the manager or the HR personnel is enough to understand the seriousness of the issue and take action accordingly. the final decision made by them will not affect any person involved directly or indirectly. The principle of the utilitarianism is based on the result or the implication. there is no clear difference between which is good or which is bad, The focus will be on the issues and its final outcome.
  • Balance sheet approach- where the manager writes about pros and cons of his decision. this helps him to arrive the clear picture of the things and solve the issue in better way.
  • Know the law - It will stop from making employment decision such as suspension and termination.
  • Consult the company code of ethics for further guidance- this is the simple action will resolve the ethical issue immediately, based on how specific and comprehensive your company ethic statement is. The employee code of ethics will provide the backdrop on deciding what is right and what is wrong in business decisions, it will give the clear idea of which decision is more in line with the organization ethical commitment
  • Share the ethical issue with your supervisor and ask for the suggestion based on their experience - the front line employees will face number of issues at their job, taking ethical advise from the supervisor will keep employee from out of the trouble and also helps to resolve the conflicts.
  • Discuss the ethical issues at the workplace with other executives if you at the top level management
  • Speak with the other colleagues from other companies or the your peer, without divulging company secrets
  • Read the news paper article about the other companies who faced same kind of ethical issues- it will give the idea about what happened to the others after making their decisions, what is the best way to resolve the conflict
