Explain how you use your knowledge about each of the following,to enrich the benefits of your own present leadership experiences:
a.the situation where you find yourself into;
b.the activities/tasks you are involved in;and,
c.the people you interact and work with?
a.the situation where you find yourself into;
The knowlege that we could use from the situation we find ourselves into would depend upon the surroundings, the resources and the organisational work we are involved with. The contingency theory of leadership would help us to adapt and change as per the situations asks us for. Thus, we could use the knowledge around what is happening with the situation, what resources do I have and how well I could understand the same situation and develop a theory to solve this problem is the knowledge I could use. For example, if there is a situation where two people are fighting and I have to lead them, I would rather understand the reason and the situation why the same fight happened and then develop and apply the right theory of leadership to solve the problem as per the situation.
b.the activities/tasks you are involved in;and,
The activities or tasks we are involved with talks about the leadership approach that comes with the position and experience. Higher the management power and the management activities we are involved are, higher position is granted to us giving us more leadership as per the power and experience. Thus, the knowledge regarding what authorities and powers we hold to lead the power would help us in providing better leadership to them. For example, if two people are fighting, we would rather use our power as per the position/tasks being assigned to us and would rather ask them to cordinate and coperate or they would be getting fired.
c.the people you interact and work with?
The people we interact with gives us the the networking power and also the leadership based on communication and personal relationships. The knowledge we share regarding how are people around us, what they want, what are their likes and dislikes and maintaining personal communication and relationship with them help us to better lead, interact and motivate at work. For example, the two people fighting would let us interact with them and know how friendly and via communication we could solve the problem and solve the issues raised through effective leadership.
