Employment at will has the following benefits

Freedom to terminate
Employers are free to cut costs by reducing employment during difficult times when there is not enough work for all. they don't need to give good reasons for termination of employment and hence have better control over profitability of the company. This is specially true for small businesses, where work load generally varies

Freedom to quit

Empliyment at will enables the employees to terminate job without giving notice to the employers and hence advantageous since the nature of engagement then is no longer binding
