Customers can be anybody who purchased the products and services but the final user of products and services like traders, resellers, distributors, wholesalers, etc.
Consumer is end-users of products and services and consumers are not reselling of products and service and only purchased to use it.
Mainly during marketing practices focus on consumers because creating utility in the mind of consumers always leads to inquiry to the seller or retailers and retailers or sellers always focus on consumers' inquiries and trying to solve with solutions to keep maintain customer retention and satisfaction. Marketing performs to create demand through transforming and brainwash of consumers minds with the help of visualization, live user sessions, interviewing of end-users, etc.
