1. What role do you believe Unions have in today's economy?

With the emergence of employee friendly organizations, and with best HR practices more prevalent in the organizations, the role of the unions has been limited in nature. In today’s economy, the unions have following roles to play.

A. Provide a platform to the employees where their rights are protected and duly cared as per the labor laws and other related regulations.

B. Deliver the benefits of the collective bargain to all the class of employees so that discrimination is prevented in the organization.

C. Work constructively and proactively with the organization’s management to devise plans & policies that help employees as well as employers

D. Take initiatives that develop trust between the employees and employers. Here, employees should not be used as a tool to exercise control and arm-twist the management.
