Process Design is implemented by IKEA in it’s overall operations
related to buying inventory, managing at warehouse and selling to
customers and is well planned and controlled with following points
and their effective results:
- In 2015, produced renewable energy 75% of its consumption
- By 2020, it has target to produce 100% energy of its
consumption
- IKEA spent 1.35 m Euros to help cotton farmers improve their
incomes and reduce the use of pesticides and water r on their
crops
- In 2013, 1/3rd if its wood was certified by Forest
Stewardship Council
- 68% of paper in IKEA catalogue is FSC certified
- 98% of the main materials in household furnishing products are
Recyclable, recycled or renewable.
- IKEA recycles 87% of its waste
- It has started investing heavily in installation of solar
panels and wind farms on IKEA buildings worldwide
- Discounts to those customers who wish to do a full solar
installation at their homes.
- 1/4th of IKEA stores have electric vehicle charging
stations for customers
- Appointed a full time Chief Sustainability Officer
- IKEA group owns IKEA Green tech, which invests in start ups who
are involved in technologies to increase sustainable business
operations
- Code of Conduct for Suppliers – Ikea WAY or IWAY :-
Outlines the expectations of suppliers
Those found to be in violation of IWAY could be dropped as a
supplier
Supplier cannot use forced or child labour
One person is assigned to comply with IWAY standards on
suppliers end
Signed document by sub-contractors of suppliers to comply with
IWAY
Internal compliance audit every 12 months
Work hours not exceeding 60 hours per week
