Bottleneck is the situation arises when a department, machine, facility, resource are working with full of their capacity and effort, therefore they cannot handle additional demand placed on it.. the bottleneck effects or limits the throughput that associate with the specific resources. In the communication terms the bottleneck is defined as the point at which the enterprise stops the flow of data entirely, because there is not enough data handling capacity to handle due to the current data traffic. In the production the bottleneck arises - which cause in the company one part of a production chain stops or becomes slow , when the bottleneck occurs the function which is behind and in front of the area in which issue has occurred need to stop , because they will create backlog once the jam is fixed or there won't be any work to do. The bottleneck is the component of the process it makes other process slower which are depends on it. the name Bottleneck is came because the shape of the bottle is narrower at the neck, it makes difficult for and object or item to move out or move in to the bottle at the neck of bottle.

A bottleneck in the manufacturing point of view where the process or the operation exceeds the capacity of the facility or the point at at which the production bunches up, then the production slows up or stops completely. In other words we can say that , the industry is not able to produce the enough units fast enough to keep the other production schedule or other operation following the same rate. for example in the manufacturing industry the two conveyor belts merges into single, the point at which the belts merges is called as bottleneck. In this example the production is not stops, but the production slows. if one of the conveyor belt breaks then the production workload being pushed into the single conveyor belt and taken off an't move, it will cause the employees who are relaying on the conveyor belt needs to stop their work. If the employees who makes the manufacture continue to do so, then there won't be more place to put the excess products. the people in the production flow system who checks the quality of the product and who loads the product in to the truck must stop their work. If the production progress before these conveyor belt problem is resolved, then the entire production process remains slow, once after the issue is fixed the people who are checking the quality of the product and who are loading the product in to the truck are struggles with the workload because of sudden backlog of work. the bottleneck also increases the production cost.
