Summary-

The UPS is binding the nation for more than 240 years. This report aims to provide details of the company's routing, timing & supply chain management. Further, studies are required to understand the working mechanism, employee benefits of United Postal Service. This report show the features and development strategy of UPS.

The objective of report is to examine and understand the continuous transforming of UPS with change in technology. We have tried to understand the various parameters of supply chain managements.

Methods-

Under this heading we can add the methods used like For eg:- Questionaire, Google Docs, Personal Interview.

Discussion-

The foundation of the United Postal Service is for more than 240 years. Their mission is to provide universal delivery service to nation.The central tenet of this mission is to provide prompt, reliable, and efficient postal services to all Americans, regardless of where they live.

The Postal Service has continuously transformed with change in technologies to better serve customers. Their vision comprises of delivering customer value and bind the nation together in the digital age. This includes serving those individuals who are currently digitally underserved.

The organisation understand that the future opportunities depend on ability to maintain the trust of employees, customers, and communities they serve.The Postal Service have established four Future Ready goals:

1. Deliver a world-class customer experience.

2. Equip, empower, and engage employees.

3. Innovate faster to deliver value.

4. Invest in our future platforms.

We have tried to understand various strategy including mission, vision, and Future Ready goals. But, now if we try to study the current psenario of UPS there is a decline of more than 40 billion mail pieces. This has happened mainly because of broadband and adoption of mobile device.

THE CURRENT BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT:-

1) Costs to fulfill the postal USO have increased.

2) The use of broadband and smart devices have changed customer demand.

3) Labor costs are growing faster, primarily due to costs of healthcare and retirement benefits.

4) Rapid increase in digital media channel.

5) Continuous growth in eCommerce.

To overcome, new supply chain methodology are adopted like investments in new technology, mail processing equipment and an effort to improve relationships with suppliers. A free and optional notification service, it gives digital preview, users receive email notifications containing images of the exterior, address side of incoming letter before it arrives. Notifications also include a list of packages scheduled to arrive that day. Users can preview their mail and take action online.

UPS take care of their employees by providing various benefits like Compensation, Health Insurance, Dental and Vision Insurance, Social Security & Medicare, Retirement.

Conclusion-

The UPS have proved to be the best and trustfull organisation since 240 years and healthy working environment for their own employees. They have very effective and efficient supply chain management.
