. After months of insufficient recognition (and 2 years without a raise), you accept an offer from another firm for a $2,000-a-year raise. When you tell your boss you are resigning, you are told how crucial you are to the business and are offered a raise of $2,500 per year. What do you do? Why? What problems might exist if you accept the buy-back?

Answer #1

Ans

I have resigned and accepted outside offer due to 2 reasons;

i) No recognition by the managment regarding my contribution

ii) No raise for past 2 years.

I would refuse the counter offer (buy back offer) from my current company as my importance has not been recognized and its best to work in a company that values my work. Even now after my resignation the importance of my role is not being recognzed publicly.

What guarantee is there that my current company will not go back on its offer after I reject the offer I have. It should be in writing.
